If you're looking for a great place to explore and enjoy outdoor activities, Round Rock, Texas is the ideal destination. Located near the vibrant city of Austin, Round Rock is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States and is consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in the entire state. Home to major employers such as Dell Computers, Westinghouse, Scott & White Hospital, Texas A&M Medical Health Center and Austin Community College, Round Rock has become a hub of economic growth. The city is renowned for its abundant outdoor activities, the best entertainment venues, its well-documented history and its title of “Sports Capital of Texas”.
Old Settlers Park is a 645-acre park with a sports field and the Brushy Creek Regional Trail is open for residents and visitors to explore. Behrens Ranch is a master-planned community in Round Rock with a variety of amenities and home styles for its residents. The beautiful community has a number of amenities including two swimming pools, a club headquarters, an indoor pavilion, children's play area, tennis court, and parks. There are also green areas and trails to enjoy.
Popular neighborhoods in the area include Teravista and Brushy Creek, where you'll find the city's namesake round rock. This natural limestone formation marked a low-water crossing that allowed the first settlers to pass it safely, and is located near Chisholm Trail, in the Old Town neighborhood of Round Rock. Forest Creek offers services like no other for its residents, including the Forest Creek golf course, which is known for being one of the best in Central Texas. Taylor is another great destination near Round Rock.
It has long been known as the original location of Louie Mueller Barbecue, which continuously competes for the coveted (and unofficial) label of “best barbecue in Texas”. Taylor has lately become a mecca for some of the coolest kids in old town Austin who have moved (shhh) to their remarkable Victorian homes and other old houses in the area. Country musician Jerry Jeff Walker recorded a live album there (somewhat confusingly called Viva Terlingua, after another small Texas town), and became more famous in a song recorded by Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. Round Top is also a beautiful Central Texas destination and is home to the former Shakespeare at Winedale program, a University of Texas summer residential program in which participants live on-site while performing the bard's works in a local barn. Along with nearby New Braunfels, it keeps alive and celebrates the heritage of German immigrants who arrived in Central Texas in the 19th century. The Sonoma community is located in the heart of Round Rock and is surrounded by lush landscapes and modern amenities.
It's an established community close to major employers such as Dell Computers. With so much to offer, it's no wonder why Round Rock is one of the best places to live in Texas.
